Their Story Touched Everyone: These Beautiful Siamese Twins Were Separated Shortly After Birth!

Lilia Bachinskaya, a woman in her 44s, discovered she was pregnant again in the spring of 2019. She already had three sons and wished for a daughter with her husband Anatoly.

During an ultrasound, Lilia and Anatoly learned that she was carrying Siamese twins.

The babies were connected at the head, and doctors advised against attempting separation.

Despite the challenges, Lilia decided to proceed with the pregnancy, believing that everything would turn out fine.

On December 30, 2019, twin girls Abigail and Mikaela (nicknamed Abi and Mika) were born, still joined at the head.

However, further examination revealed that the shared parts of their brains were limited, giving hope for a successful separation.

Preparations for the separation procedure began shortly after the birth, and after nine months of planning, the operation took place in October 2020 at a children’s clinic in California.

A team of thirty specialists worked for 24 hours to successfully separate the girls, and both came out healthy. The operation gave the twins a new lease on life.

Lilia spent about six months with the children in the clinic while they adjusted to their new circumstances.

Today, nearly two years after the separation, Abi and Mika are thriving. They are slightly behind in development but quickly catching up.

There are a few more cosmetic procedures ahead for the girls, but doctors are confident that in a few years, they will hardly believe they were once conjoined twins.

In addition, Lilia gave birth to another healthy baby, a boy named Adam, at the end of the previous year.

Overall, Lilia’s decision to proceed with the pregnancy, despite the doctors’ advice, turned out well.

What are your thoughts on her choice?
