Fourteen years ago, surgeons separated Siamese twins. How they live now
Now Isabel and Abby Carlson are ordinary twin girls. They are so similar, both shy and sweet. It is hard to imagine that ten years ago it was possible for them not to live.
They were born as Siamese twins, their bodies were conjoined. And there was a very dangerous problem. Isabelle’s tiny heart was pounding against Abby’s chest. All internal organs were mixed in two bodies. However, thanks to skilled doctors, the girls are living a normal life today. The doctors of the clinic had prepared for that complicated operation for a long time. It took place in several stages, which were attended by many doctors from different medical departments. The most difficult thing was that they were fighting for not one, but two lives. It was a huge responsibility.
The most difficult operation took place on May 12, 2008, in which 17 doctors participated. It was successful, both children survived. After two weeks in the hospital, they went home.
14 years later, the girls live as normal people, study, have hobbies, are surrounded by good friends and like to dress stylishly. The sisters love to compete against each other. Psychologists say that they had to be separated also because each of them is an individual.
Their parents say that when the twins were born, the girls held each other’s hands. They were separated , but the bond between them would never be lost.
